Plantik speaks at the FAO World Food Forum
Plantik's CEO and co-founder Ying Shao joined global leaders at the 2024 FAO World Food Forum in Rome, speaking at a high-level session on gene editing for agrifood systems transformation.
The FAO World Food Forum, hosted at the FAO headquarters in Rome, brought together leading scientists, policymakers, and innovators to explore inclusive solutions for global food security. This year's forum focused on "Inclusive Science and Innovation for Agrifood Systems Transformation".
In the session "Sowing the Future: Gene editing for agrifood systems", Ying presented Plantik's breakthrough work in developing climate-resilient crops, highlighting how the company's heat-resistant tomatoes could save up to 8 million metric tonnes of yield in India alone - equivalent to protecting the livelihoods of 300,000 small-scale farmers.

Plantik was honored to participate in this important dialogue on the future of agriculture. As we continue developing breakthrough technologies for climate-resilient crops, we remain committed to ensuring our innovations reach those who need them most - particularly small-scale farmers in climate-vulnerable regions.
